Go see a movie for yourself before reading reviews or checking the ratings from people who are paid to find flaws - you just might enjoy it without the external influences. You guessed it - we're discussing Eternals. As per usual, spoilers this episode as we break down our thoughts after seeing it as well as dissecting some of the different reviews we've seen about it. Are their pacing issues? Sure. A lot of characters and stories to get through in one movie? You betcha. Is it about as long as Dune? Also yes - but there is also a lot to appreciate from Marvel's newest release.

Speaking of Marvel, Shang Chi hit Disney+ this week and we step back to once again appreciate this new superhero origin movie.

One more movie to top of the week, Finch arrived on Apple+. This new movie starring Tom Hanks, an adorable dog and a robot tugs at the heartstrings and delivers a solid well acted & told story.

New shows, an old favorite returns and a possible strike looms:

Fall means we are finally getting some new premieres. Foundation has arrived on Apple TV, the Great British Bake Off returns for more and just in time for the spooky season, Mike Flannagan brings Midnight Mass to the masses.

Surprising many Doctor Who fans, it was announced this week that New Who pioneer Russell T. Davies will take over the reigns once again in 2023 after Chibnall & Whittaker. Davies oversaw both 9th and 10th iterations of the Doctor with Christopher Eccleston and David Tenant as well as helped usher in a world wide rabid fandom of new fans. This news could mean we'll see the series return to form in just a few years time - which will also coincide with the show's 60th anniversary.

In behind the scenes entertainment news, The IATSE is considering a strike for it's members which could impact the industry just as much (if not more) as the writer's strike we witnessed back in 2007-2008. As much as we love our geeky media - we here at The Blurred Nerds stand with Guild members and believe they should be compensated fairly for their work. Actors bring characters to life - but without those who work behind the scenes - we wouldn't have amazing costumes to fawn over, lighting to set the mood and more.

Good news for karate fans and army of witches stans. Netflix renewed Cobra Kai for season 5 before season 4 even premieres so hopefully than means they are seeing some great things in the episodes yet to come Also, Freeform gave a third and final season renewal to Motherland: Fort Salem. Thank goodness too because season 2 just ended on a heck of a season finale.

Activision Blizzard irked Overwatch players this week by announcing a popular in game character would soon be receiving a name change. More changes rumored to be coming soon to World of Warcraft names as well. However, may players suggest Blizzard should be making changes to their real world working conditions instead of deflecting to largely meaningless gestures inside their games.

We spend some time geeking out over the new Spider Man trailer and Tik Tok bans yet another potentially dangerous social media trend & challenge from their platform.

In the second half of the show,

More and more actors are beginning to speak out about the treatment their characters have received in movies and questioning the motives behind it. Perhaps this will be another step into more accurate representation of underserved characters and performers in our genre favorites. Can we just get rid of the tired tropes already?!

First up this episode, we chat about James Gunn's take on Suicide Squad. There was comedy, gore, good performances and most importantly heart - all the things we look for in a Gunn production. How else would we have gotten a cute kitty in a Polka Man Suit?

Then we move on to some recent celebrity allegations and wonder where our bias clouds our judgement based on what we believe or don't. Does liking a celebrity impact how we handle their potential fall from grace? For example, both Joel Kinnaman and Vincent Kartheiser have recent allegations against them - but we find ourselves taking the side of one of them much quicker than the other.

Titans returns for season 3 on HBO Max and drops 3 episodes at once. The show is heading in a darker direction and it will be interesting to see where we go from here. DC seems to be finally heading in a good direction for their shows albeit with baby steps.

Lower Decks season 2 premiered on Paramount+ and continues to be one of the best recent additions to the adult animation scene. Skewering classic episodes while also showing reverence for the Star Trek Universe at large - plus a Shatner On The Mount reference?! We're gonna need Paramount & CBS to keep renewing this show please (and while we're at it - give us the whole season at once!). That and more on episode 238.

Now word is that Emma Stone might step forward as well. Will we see more talent speaking up soon or joining the fight?
